Alloy Theory at Crafty Balboa Holiday tomorrow!

Alloy Theory is a collaboration between two friends, Jenni Tunbridge and Stephanie Spiller. The two found they share a passion for fabric and sewing. Based on the concept of upcycling, they love taking something someone would otherwise toss out after a few wears and turn it into a coin purse or make up bag. Denim is the base material for the line, providing a durable structure from which the two embellish each bag, making them one of a kind.

Alloy Theory will be at Crafty Balboa Holiday Saturday, December 8th from 11am to 6pm!

Tomorrow at Crafty Balboa Holiday, Zucchini and Co!

Art is a process; it is by following a set of steps that I can turn off the inner monologue and let a thought speak. The steps vary, but are almost always related to color, words, layering, and textures.
I work with acrylic paint, carved linoleum blocks, and colored pencils. I love the touch of papers--thick cotton rag--and often the paper's surface is just as important as what is put on that surface. I create patterns in squares and circles, in colors that tend to be feminine, and rely on traditional craft, such as hand-sewing a print to a painting.
Currently, I am working on a smaller scale with quieter colors, perhaps reflecting something of who I am outside of the classroom. Current events, my students, and my dreams are often my subjects.

Zucchini and Co. will be at Crafty Balboa Holiday tomorrow from 11am to 6pm!

Melo Studios will be at Crafty Balboa Holiday this Saturday!

Once upon a time, there were two gals who loved to go thrifting and to make something new from something old. They also liked to make natural healthy candles to burn and enjoy in their homes with their families. And so vintage containers + soy wax and elbow grease = melo soy candles.

We hand pour each and every little candle with care. Our candles are made with 100% soy wax that comes from soy beans grown by U.S. farmers. Soy wax is a renewable resource and burns clean without those gross chemicals found in paraffin wax.  We use cotton wicks and reclaimed vintage containers and reusable mason jars.
We started selling candles at farmers markets and craft fairs and then moved into wholesale and manufacturing. We are still a small two lady run business and love to create eco-friendly products for you and your family!

Melo Studios will be at Crafty Balboa Holiday this Saturday from 11am to 6pm!

Yummy & Company answers Crafty's questions!

Tell us about Yummy & Company!
Growing up, I spent countless hours playing in the creek and exploring the woods behind our house, making necklaces and crowns out of twigs and clovers. I am still charmed by the intricacies of nature, and seek to capture it's beauty in my work. My other favorite obsession was playing with my mom's antique and costume jewelry. Now, I've merged both pastimes in my work, combining polymer clay floral designs with antique and vintage components to create one of a kind keepsakes and newfangled family heirlooms.

What's a great gift item you will be bringing to Crafty Balboa Holiday?
My little dandelion tuft designs seem to be a favorite of my customers, I think they evoke a bit of childhood nostalgia in folks! they range from $22-225, depending on the piece!

My favorite thing about the holidays is...
Getting together with my family and enjoying the traditions we've kept.
